Things I love Thursday

-So yesterday on campus was pretty interesting. Students at SUNY Cobleskill along with students in all the SUNY schools in the state walked out of class at 1pm & all met at a centralized location ( on our campus it was infront of the offices to protest tuition rises after the state decided to cut 300 Million dollars out of the SUNY system. This means less awesome classes to choose from, less student services, less teachers & it costing more to attend school. I think its way not cool the state goverment would choose millionaires over students. Im glad the students are fighting back & wanting to be heard. Its students like them that get shit done around here! : )

- I am also loving that I get a five day break from school starting tomorrow. Yayyyyy!

- I got a new hoop trick down lastnight when I was just goofing around in my apartment with my friends. I was super excited when I nailed it.

- The Bio test I have been stressing about all week turned out to be pretty easy & I knew everything that was on the test. Soooo glad I studied.

- I got to hangout with my best friend from home this week. I loved seeing her & catching up on boys & shenanagans!

Random things I love - Pumpkin Spiced Lattes, Breakfast Burritos, Purple nail polish with gold sparkles, Neon green chrysanthemums, Making silly putty with my friends, Gossip Girl reruns, Putting the Fleece sheets back on the bed for winter, The Harvest Festival, Leaves changing colors, New soap scents arrvied in the mail, James bringing me soup, Manchester Orchestra.

Hope everyone is having a great Thursday!!

Flower Love

Awesome News!!
Every Wednesday on Lavender Lovely I will post floral designs I have made during the week. Yayyy for flowers!
Floral Design & pretty much just flowers in general are a huge part of my life.
I am Vice President of the American Institute of Floral Design here on campus ( next semester I will be the president! ) & I refuse to believe that generation Y will never appreciate floral designs, floral shops & all the amazing things that can be done with flowers and the emotions they can evoke.
Aside from Flower Love Wednesdays I will always post floral industry related news, pics of flower shows and design classes and competitions I attend. I will also be sure to post floral photoshoots & floral design tutorials. I will even start doing some online floral design classes & post them on Lavender Lovely for free. Everyone deserves beautiful flowers in their lives.

Floral Designs of the Week

This is a contemporaty design technique that gives the illusion of the focal flowers ( the carnations ) going straight through the design.

This design is def my favorite of the week! I love bright flowers. : )

This design style is call Pave. Pave style is when all the flowers in the design are all touching eachother and are all at the same height and little or no foliage is used. Some people do this style using lines of different types of flowers but I am really loving this patch work vibe I did. Reminds me of a mosaic piece of art. For a really awesome touch I added some pieces of equisetum to the outside edges. I love that stuff, its like mini bamboo.

I hope these designs have inspired you. Pop by your local flower shop & pick up some flowers and design something of your own! : ) Supporting your local flower shop is an amazing thing.

Lifestreaming!!

Hello Interwebz!

                        Heres a lesson in lifestreaming. : )

I write in a journal currently & I also have a dream journal, idea book and radical self love bible but I loved the idea of doing some kind of online journaling. So when I read an article about lifestreaming I knew it was something I had to do!
What is lifestreaming??
Lifestreaming is the act of using the internet to track life events and thoughts to share with others.
The beauty of lifestreaming is a person can share as little or as much information as they want. There are no real hard set rules about how lifestreaming has to be done. A lifestreamer can choose to use one kind of internet outlet such as a personal website or a blog or they can also use a whole slew of different social sites at once so they can organize parts of their life.
With my personal lifestream I have chosen to use my blogspot as my main way of sharing but also use sites such as facebook and twitter to keep in touch with friends, Live Journal as a place to make my daily lists ( which I love to do! ), my tumblr is used to share funny things I find on the web such a memes, sweet stuff I find on Stumble Upon, my Buzznet is used to keep track of my videos, craft and flower photos... You get the idea.
Why lifestream??
There are several reasons…
It helps track personal growth
It can connect you to many different people
It’s an outlet for creativity
It can be very therapeutic to send good energy out into the world through streaming
It can help you realize what you want in life and help you believe in things

When it comes to my lifestream I have made a promise to myself not to put negative or mean things on my lifestream. I’m all about the positivity! : D
One of the most awesome lifestreamers ever is Jessica Mullen, who inspired me to start. You can learn about her & more about lifestreaming here
Also here is a really great interview she did with Gala Darling

Soap Stuff!

I had an amazing Sunday. I got a pumpkin spice latte in the morning at Ambitions, side note: best coffee in the Capital Region : )

The rest of my day was spent in my little studio casting some soap & also a little mini photo shoot with some of them.

Green Apple Explosion!
I made ten bars of these guys & I tested one out in the shower. To me they smell like green apple jolly ranchers & it's awesome! It is def a scent for those who really love green apples because its extreme. I love the new coloring I used, super sparkly.

Raspberry Lemonade
I am so happy with how crazy bright these bars turned out to be. Has notes of fresh raspberries with an underlying smell of sweet lemonade. This instantly made me want lemonade! These bars are made out of rich shea butter which gives them a great later & they are really good for the skin.

It was a very productive day. Cant wait to get them in the shop!

Hello There!

Hello! Today is a day of firsts for me so it seemed only fitting that my first blog post be on October 1st as well.
My favorite time of year has finally arrived. We celebrated the Adirondack Balloon festival. The trees on the mountains are turning orange and gold and the wind is getting chilly, almost scarf season! My favorite little bakery started serving pumpkin cupcakes and pumpkin spiced lattes again which I will most definitely be starting my morning with tomorrow. : )
I am frantically trying to get my fall line of soaps done for my little etsy shop and working on some new label designs. I can’t wait for the new line to go up on the site!
& now a list… of Firsts.
It’s the first day of my favorite season.
It’s the first post on my new blog.
It’s the first day of my drink more water challenge.
It’s the first day I actually had to turn the heat on in my tiny studio apartment.
It’s the first day of lighting my fall themed candles.
It’s the first time I used OPI dark purple nail polish on my toes.
It’s the first day of Gala Darling’s Radical Self Love Bootcamp, which is going to be released in a few hours! Which I have been very excited about. Learn more about Radical Self Love here .

It is going to be a beautiful season filled with much adventure, change and positivity.
